Pedro Sarmiento
(biographical notes)


Pedro Sarmiento studied classical piano at the Madrid Conservatory. After playing with numerous Spanish Jazz and Flamenco groups, Pedro went on to study piano with professor Ran Blake at New England Conservatory in Boston (USA).

Along with Christopher Washburne, David Reider and Atemu Aton he formed the group "Boston Art Quartet" which recorded two albums. The first album untitled "The Fax" was selected by "Billboard Magazine" in the category "Critics' Choice".

Along with Laurent Filipe, Pedro formed "Duo Iberia", having recorded for the "Numerica" label, the album "Divertimento" as well as the album "Dos", to be released soon.

Pedro has played with some of the most prestigious Flamenco musicians, such as Enrique Morente, having premiered in Sevilla his "Requiem for Silverio Franconetti". He has also played with Jos� Ant�nio Galicia and his group since the early 80's.

Pedro Sarmiento is also Director of the Municipal Music School of Talavera de la Reina and teaches improvisation classes as well as continuing education courses for teachers.
